Dr. Carmichael is a licensed psychologist practicing in Safety Harbor, Fl. As a graduate of the University of Florida's Department of Clinical and Health Psychology, she has been specially trained to work with diverse populations including the LGBT community. Her primary area of expertise is working with parents, children, adolescents and young adults facing a variety of stressors or life transitions. She has also worked with children and adolescents who are questioning their sexual identity or orientation. While the published research documents no difference between the emotional, psychosocial, and behavioral adjustment of children from LGBT parents compared to heterosexual parents, LGBT parenting can present its own unique set of challenges for both parents and children.
