Coalition of Counselors (A-Z)

The coalition of counselors are therapists that we have met with, screened and deemed safe to provide counseling to members of our community.

This is how they have answered the following questions:

  • Do you believe homosexuality is a sin? No
  • Do you believe gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people should have the right to marry and adopt children? Yes
  • Do you believe that homosexuality is in any way secondary or less than heterosexuality? No

They have all signed the following statement:

"I believe that all people are created equal and entitled to all civil rights and liberties as available in this country; that all people deserve to feel safe and free to be authentic within their families, jobs and communities; and that oppression of the LGBT community must end."

Are you a counselor who'd like to join the Coalition? Please Contact Us.

Do you know a counselor who you think should be included? Nominate them here!

I have several close friends and family members who are gay. I have always had empathy for the specific and unique challenges that gay people encounter. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Registered Art Therapist, I have multifarious tools to assist in exploring and processing issues. My dissertation research study included a lesbian couple. Since then I have worked with serveral gay and lesbian couples as well as individuals.

I work in a partnership with my clients to discover where the 'work' of therapy needs to be. Through 20 years experience in this field working with individuals, groups, and families in various settings I have developed a way of addressing the past while focusing on the present day. My approach involves family systems which includes exploring the history of one's family of origin and how it is affecting choices in one's present life. My clients learn to identify the coping strategies that work best for them and to reframe negative thought patterns that stand in their way. In addition to traditional talk therapy I offer Art Therapy techniques. This mode of therapy allows participants to express feelings, process issues, and explore solutions through a creative medium. These techniques can uncover crucial issues quicker and with more lasting results. There are many ways to address issues. Whether I am using traditional verbal therapy or art therapy techniques,I work with the client to find the most comfortable and the best fit for them. To learn more about my approach please contact me to set up a free 20 minute consultation.

I love what I do. I truly feel that I am well suited for my field of study and I enjoy my work. It is very rewarding to work with someone over time and watch them increase their skills for handling strong emotions and processing life's challenges. I am grateful for the opportunity to have strong connections and know my clients deeply. Because I believe that you can only take someone as far as you have come, I continually work on my own development and aspire to learn more every day about helping others. I am contiually facinated with the resiliance that I see in others and hopeful that any issue can be processed and healed.
