Coalition of Counselors (A-Z)

The coalition of counselors are therapists that we have met with, screened and deemed safe to provide counseling to members of our community.

This is how they have answered the following questions:

  • Do you believe homosexuality is a sin? No
  • Do you believe gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people should have the right to marry and adopt children? Yes
  • Do you believe that homosexuality is in any way secondary or less than heterosexuality? No

They have all signed the following statement:

"I believe that all people are created equal and entitled to all civil rights and liberties as available in this country; that all people deserve to feel safe and free to be authentic within their families, jobs and communities; and that oppression of the LGBT community must end."

Are you a counselor who'd like to join the Coalition? Please Contact Us.

Do you know a counselor who you think should be included? Nominate them here!

Dr. Carmichael is a licensed psychologist practicing in Safety Harbor, Fl. As a graduate of the University of Florida's Department of Clinical and Health Psychology, she has been specially trained to work with diverse populations including the LGBT community. Her primary area of expertise is working with parents, children, adolescents and young adults facing a variety of stressors or life transitions. She has also worked with children and adolescents who are questioning their sexual identity or orientation. While the published research documents no difference between the emotional, psychosocial, and behavioral adjustment of children from LGBT parents compared to heterosexual parents, LGBT parenting can present its own unique set of challenges for both parents and children. Adhering to guidelines and standards set forth by the American Psychological Association and as documented in the APA Policy Statements on LGBT Concerns , Dr. Carmichael is more than happy to assist you or your children with any life issue.

Since I had a background in sex therapy, and research, one of my first clients in 1987 was a male to female Transsexual in her 20's. Working with her was enlightening and satisfying. Since then I've had the privilege to work with other transitioning individuals.  It is rewarding to see them blossom into themselves. I have always believed in the worth and dignity of every individual.

I see mostly adults for anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, relationship issues, life transitions, sexual/physical abuse recovery, sextherapy, coping with chronic illness and personal growth. I work with individuals and couples.

My clients inspire me with their courage, resilience, motivation, creativity in meeting the challenges of their lives. Working with people energizes me,"It never gets boring".
