Coalition of Counselors (A-Z)
The coalition of counselors are therapists that we have met with, screened and deemed safe to provide counseling to members of our community.
This is how they have answered the following questions:
- Do you believe homosexuality is a sin? No
- Do you believe gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people should have the right to marry and adopt children? Yes
- Do you believe that homosexuality is in any way secondary or less than heterosexuality? No
They have all signed the following statement:
"I believe that all people are created equal and entitled to all civil rights and liberties as available in this country; that all people deserve to feel safe and free to be authentic within their families, jobs and communities; and that oppression of the LGBT community must end."
Are you a counselor who'd like to join the Coalition? Please Contact Us.

I have friends, associates who are LGBT and am very aware of issues they and clients over the years face related to sexuality, acceptance of self and acceptance by others. I have worked in schools and treated children and teens impacted by their own identity struggles as well as the bullying and teasing of peers and public. I have witnessed the pain and suffering as well as the joy of individuals who have come to terms with who they are.
I begin "where the client is," ie the client leads in terms of what he/she is seeking. I help adults and children talk about feelings that trouble them. I provide a safe place for exploraton of questions, incidents, confusion they may have been embarrassed, afraid ;or ashamed to talk about. My work with children focuses on play therapy and family involvement. I have an intergenerational focus, utilizing a genogram or family map. I invite the client to to invite whomever they may choose, if anyone, to help them with their genogram. One area of specialty is sexology, where the goal is helping clients achieve a healthy sexual awareness that connects head, heart, spirit and body. Problems related to childhood traumas, including the impact of divorce, gender issues, performance anxiety, relationships, medical problems are addressed. Family influences, patterns, and strengths that shape individuals are explored and respected, I use EMDR to help desensitize and reprocess traumatic memories, incidents or issues.
