Coalition of Counselors (A-Z)

The coalition of counselors are therapists that we have met with, screened and deemed safe to provide counseling to members of our community.

This is how they have answered the following questions:

  • Do you believe homosexuality is a sin? No
  • Do you believe gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people should have the right to marry and adopt children? Yes
  • Do you believe that homosexuality is in any way secondary or less than heterosexuality? No

They have all signed the following statement:

"I believe that all people are created equal and entitled to all civil rights and liberties as available in this country; that all people deserve to feel safe and free to be authentic within their families, jobs and communities; and that oppression of the LGBT community must end."

Are you a counselor who'd like to join the Coalition? Please Contact Us.

Do you know a counselor who you think should be included? Nominate them here!

I believe in the inherent worth and value of all people. It is my honor and privilege to help others and offer an objective and LGBT friendly practice, where clients are treated with the respect that they are deserving of. I have both mentors and friends who are LGBT that I deeply love and respect. I consider myself a student in humanity. I learn from my clients as much as I hope to aid them on their life journey.

Cognitive behaviorally based, but use alternative treatment modalities as desired.

My late parents advised all of their children to choose a life work that would be helpful and useful to others. Along with a good sense of humor, I try to advise my clients through honoring their experiences, as well as advising/teaching/coaching in the present. I am deeply pleased when I can aid someone to walk through their pain to the other side. I have always felt strongly from a young age that counseling others is what I was meant to do.

Life if often hard/traumatic enough for many of the clients that I see. I don't believe that clients should ever be re-victimized by working with a therapist who doesn't "get it" ,when it comes to the additional struggles many LGBT clients have when seeking counseling, support or related services,,,,or worse doesn't want to. Yes, I have many friends who are LBGT and have for many years.

The primary focus of my practice is trauma, more specifically domestic and/or sexual violence (childhood sexual abuse/incest, as well as adult sexual assault both in and out of relationships). I also have a great deal of experience working with addiction, general relationship issues, and self-mutilating and/or self-sabatoging behaviors. I am a credentialed as a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress, and Clinically Certified Expert in Domestic Violence and Forensic counseling.
