Carol is excited and honored to be included in the As I Am Coalition of Counselors.

My focus has been in supporting children and parents in developing to their greatest potential. New neuroscience tells us that the development of a child's brain is ninety percent complete by age 5 and is fueled ONLY by relationship between the child and parent. This means that mental health was fueled for all of us by the presence of a loving and available parent, or lack thereof. It has NOTHING to do with the sexual orientation of the parent, their hair color,or where they live. I support LGBT parents in fostering, adopting, and parenting. I am trained in supporting the attachment process between parent and infant or child. I use the creative power of play in helping children heal, whether they have been harmed by abuse, bullying, parental separation, illness, substance abuse or other circumstances. We know that the creative processes that are used in play therapy, such as painting, drawing, sand tray, and water play all help children in expressing themselves. Play is truly "the language of children".
My focus is using the creative process of play in the assessment and treatment of children. In addition I can assess the strength of the attachment bond between a primary caregiver and a child, and if needed help the parent learn ways to strengthen the bond. This is particularly important for many adopted children, and children who have suffered early abuse and neglect
My inspirations are the children and families I work with every day! The strength of the human spirit even in our littlest children continues to amaze and inspire me.
